Services Provided by MellottSteelSeawalls.com
We install all types of walls. Rock walls have become popular with both Indiana and Michigan DNR. Keep in mind they do not eliminate erosion. High wave action draws sediment through rock walls and causes sink-holes landward of the rock. Dispite the use of a fabric barrier, sediment will escape through a rock wall. The above Redi-Rock wall and steel wall were installed on the Saint Joseph River, south of Penn High School, east of Bittersweet Road.

Stone Wall Mortared Together
This wall was installed on a lake at the South Bend Country Club.
Permitting Process
Most seawalls require a permit from the state's Department of Natural Resources, Army Corp of Engineers, Department of Enviromental Management, and some local governments. We complete the permitting process for 95 percent of the seawalls we install. Permits take 3 to 6 months. We charge $200 to complete Indiana and Michigan DNR permit applications (includes ACOE, IDEM, and local). You pay the DNR fee which varies by agency.
